Un qualcosa di ideale prima di tutto, é astratto ma anche reale, musicale e personale, espresso tra parole e immagini, che mi é tornato in mente attorno al 2009 ripensando a vecchie interviste nelle quali veniva richiamato un concetto…
There was a vision… a vision of an outstanding and individual concept, which would last for many years hence.
To live out the concept to the full, Abbath and Demonaz began stalking the woods, drinking whisky and breathing fire. The natural surroundings of their home territories – including mighty mountains and deep fjords as well as dark forests and ruins – have always meant a lot to the band. It was here where Abbath and Demonaz found their own sacred places, which they named Blashyrkh. The concept of Immortal has always been based upon Blashyrkh, this fictional realm of demons and northern blizzard.
Questo concetto è passato per alcuni miei tentativi di materializzarlo attraverso espressioni sia fotografiche che scritte. Scatti live che devono molto – se non tutto – alla Necrokult Live Agency, paesaggi catturati durante quello stalking the woods, recensioni ed interviste per un sito metal generalista e poi sotto la bandiera di un‘idea editoriale amatoriale guidata da una piccola ma impavida compagnia di avventurieri i cui sentieri si sono incrociati per un periodo, per poi dividersi di nuovo qualche anno dopo.
Chiamarlo the frostconcept, oppure a winter chant o ancora covenant zine fu importante allora, ma oggi irrilevante. A rimanere deve essere il concetto…
